Stark silence, ancient whispers, blue skies.

There’s a valley out there that time forgot.
Tucked behind the towering walls of the Himalayas, Zanskar is not just remote—it’s untouched, raw, and achingly beautiful. This is a land of stories whispered through windswept passes and rivers carving paths through ancient stone.
Now open from Manali via the high-altitude Shinku La Pass, Zanskar is no longer a secret—but it still feels like one.

Itinerary

Expand all

Day 1 : Manali → Keylong

Through the Atal Tunnel and into the other side. We ease into altitude. Forests fade into moonscapes. We stretch our legs in Sissu. Sleep under stars in Keylong.

Day 2 : Into Zanskar

Over Shinku La, 16,500 feet high. It’s not a road—it’s a ribbon tying you to something primal. Welcome to Padum.

Day 3 : Monasteries and Waterfalls

We breathe slow. From the soft fall of Shila Waterfall to the timeless chants at Karsha and Stongde Monasteries. Sunset over the Zanskar River is pure poetry.

Day 4 : The Glacier Day

Sani Lake. Pensi La. Drang Drung Glacier—an ocean of ice at 23km long. We climb and descend, pause and stare, hearts full.

Day 5 : Hidden Lakes and Cliffside Monks

We go deeper. To Raru’s calm waters. To cliff-perched Bardan. To a silent Buddha in Ichar. Night finds us in Purne.

Day 6 : Phugtal and the Mountain God

We walk the path of pilgrims. A trail carved through stone leads us to Phugtal Monastery—built into the belly of a mountain. Then to Gonbo Rangjon, a monolith of legend, where we camp under a cathedral of stars.

Day 7 : Homeward Bound

Retracing the journey, but never the feeling. Back over Shinku La. Through Jispa and Darcha. Into Manali—with your soul quietly changed.
